Checheng in Nantou is one of the famous old streets in Taiwan. It used to be the distribution center for Nantou's lumber. Although it has been transformed now, it also retains many Japanese-style buildings. Along with the old street, antique is a perfect description!
On display in the square is a 1:1 replica of the railway scene layout artwork of the Tengyun, the first steam train in Taiwan’s railway history in the 13th year of Guangxu’s reign in the Qing Dynasty (1888). The original is currently on display in Taipei City 228 Park. , a static display in the glass room next to the main building of the National Taiwan Museum. Although it is a replica, the photo still comes out when you check in, and history lovers can’t help but recall the steam train’s contribution to Taiwan’s lumber industry and its heroic appearance of emitting steam!
In addition to the food and drink along Checheng Old Street, the Checheng attractions Chumuchi (Picture 4) and Checheng Wood Industry Exhibition Hall (Pictures 5 and 6) are also must-visit attractions when visiting Checheng.
