Entering Puli, Nantou, not only are we captivated by the breathtaking scenery of Cingjing Mountain and the vibrant blossoms of the town, but we're also captivated by the delicate aroma of wine, wafting from the depths of time. Following this scent, we arrived at the Puli Distillery—more than just a place where wine is made, it's a historical stage that carries the memories of Taiwan's winemaking culture.
Historical Charm | A Distillery from the Japanese Colonial Era
Established in 1914, the Puli Distillery was originally the government-run "Puli Community Distillery" during the Japanese colonial era, boasting over a century of history. Its mountain location, blessed with pristine water and a stable climate, made it ideal for producing sake and Shaoxing wine, and it was once Taiwan's largest sake producer. Now a tourist distillery open for tours, tastings, and shopping, it offers a journey through time and present, allowing visitors to experience a dialogue between the aroma of wine and the land.
