A Half-Day Tour of Puli: Enjoy the Rich Yokohama Ramen and the Popular Chocolate Workshop

#SeptemberDestinations2025
[Puli Trip | Warm Ramen, Calm Earth Temple, and Chocolate Desserts]

If you're living in Changhua and want to plan a short getaway with a vacation vibe, Nantou is your top choice.

Mingjian Township, Zhushan Township, and Lugu Township offer many picturesque rural roads.

During the autumn, a short trip to Puli is a good option.

It takes about an hour from Changhua.

These three simple stops will satisfy both your taste buds and your soul—a relaxing and fulfilling experience.

🍜 First Stop: Puli Yokohama Ramen

We arrived at Yokohama Ramen (92 Ci'en Street, Puli Township) at 11 a.m. just before opening.

We were the first group of customers.

The restaurant features minimalist Japanese-style decor, spacious seating, and a comfortable atmosphere.

We ordered the signature Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth was rich and robust without being overly salty.

The seared barbecued pork was fragrant and the chopped green onions added a refreshing touch. The fried chicken and croquettes on the side were also crispy and delicious.
Free flow of soft drinks was available, and Line Pay was accepted.
It was a great first meal of the trip.

🏯 Second Stop: Puli Earth Mother Temple

After our meal, we drove to the Earth Mother Temple.
This majestic temple is a famous landmark in Puli.
The green tiles and blue ridges gleamed in the sun.
From the top, the entire Puli Basin was in full view.

The rolling hills, interwoven fields, dotted with red tiles and green trees,
are as beautiful as a painting.
I had originally planned to stop at the first floor, but since I was already there, I struggled to climb to the third floor, burning incense and praying.
Walking along the long corridor, feeling the breeze and gazing at the distant houses,
my mood calmed.
Climbing the stairs builds strength, and after descending, I drink the cassia seed tea provided by the temple.
It quenches my thirst and soothes my mind.
This stop is definitely worth making when you're in Puli.

🍫 Third Stop: Feeling18 Chocolate Workshop

My husband and I always include a sweet treat on any trip.
No matter how dull the day, dessert always brings a smile to our faces.
Our final stop was the renowned Feeling18 Chocolate Workshop (No. 20, Ci'en Street, Puli Township).
It's incredibly popular, with a large parking lot and three separate storefronts.
What a wonderful design!
They sell more than just chocolate; they also offer a variety of breads, desserts, fresh toast, and their incredibly popular ice cream.

I ordered pistachio ice cream and a chocolate bar.
The rich and delicate nutty aroma paired with the rich texture was truly amazing from the first bite. It was equally delicious, two scoops for NT$140.
However, for a "middle-aged woman," the sweetness was a bit too much (laughs). A few bites were just right.
I love traveling to Nantou. I leave at 9 a.m. and arrive back in Changhua around 3 or 4 p.m., leaving time for dinner. This short trip had the perfect pace:

Lunch → Yokohama Ramen (NT$730)
Afternoon Relaxation → Earth Mother Temple (Gas 100)
Afternoon Tea & Souvenirs → Feeling18 Chocolate Workshop
(Two scoops of ice cream NT$140, raw toast NT$180)

Whether it's a half-day trip or just part of a full-day trip, this combination of #EarthMotherTemple and Baohu Palace is truly satisfying.
Puli is truly the place to capture wonderful memories with "a bowl of noodles, a temple, and a little sweetness."
