The Checheng Log Pond was originally used for storing logs. During the 1960s and 1970s, when the timber industry was thriving, workers used cranes 🏗️ to immerse logs in the pond to release resin and extend the wood's lifespan.🪵
As the logging industry declined, the log pond lost its original purpose but transformed into a tranquil ecological haven.🌲
A lakeside trail surrounds the pond, lined with maple trees, camphor trees, bald cypresses, and Hong Kong orchid trees🌳. During autumn and winter, the vibrant colors create a picturesque scene of reflections between the lake and the mountains.
With a gentle breeze, waterfowl and ducks🦆 leisurely swim by. Strolling here is both relaxing and healing, as if stepping into a Japanese lakeside landscape.🍁
