Just 45 minutes from Kyoto or Osaka, Nara feels like walking through a living scroll —
with ancient temples, friendly wild deer, and gentle green hills all in one magical day.
📍My Nara Day Trip Itinerary:
1. Morning – Arrive & Meet the Deer
Start at Nara Park — the moment you enter, deer will greet you like locals
Grab some senbei (deer crackers) and bow to say hello (yes, they bow back 🦌)
Snap photos under the trees, especially in spring (sakura) or autumn (red maple)
2. Midday – Temple Time
Visit Tōdaiji (東大寺) – home to the Great Buddha (15 meters tall!) inside a vast wooden hall
Wander through ancient paths to Kasuga Taisha (春日大社) – glowing lanterns, mossy stone, pure shrine vibes
3. Afternoon – Climb Mount Wakakusa
A short hike (15–30 min) up Mount Wakakusa (若草山) gives you stunning views of Nara City
Bonus: You’ll find even more deer just casually hanging out on the hillside
Best place to sit, breathe, and shoot that “peaceful wanderer” reel
💡 Tips
Wear comfy shoes (you’ll walk a lot)
Don’t feed the deer anything except senbei
Morning = fewer crowds, softer light for photos
Buy a “鹿みくじ” (deer-shaped fortune slip) for cute luck 🦌✨
Nara isn’t just a stop —
It’s where Japan slows down, and nature meets history with a bow.
