[Tawaramoto Town] A hot topic at the World Expo and on social media! The world's smallest republic, Nauru, has come to town!

The Republic of Nauru, an island nation in the South Pacific, and Tawaramoto Town share the same land area (approximately 21 km2), so they signed a public relations partnership agreement. It seems like Nauru-kun characters are proliferating around town, so I went to check them out! 🇳🇷

Speaking of Nauru, the government's tourism bureau, X is the place to be. Despite its population of about 12,000, it boasts incredible popularity with over 550,000 followers. I also learned it's also known as "the world's smallest republic." ✍️

The agreement itself has been signed by a growing number of municipalities responding to X's call, and Tawaramoto Town is the seventh to do so. But it's the only one in Nara Prefecture, so it's garnering a lot of attention. 👀

Tawaramoto Town has received 35,000 business cards featuring Nauru-kun, Nauru's mascot character—more than the town's population (approximately 30,000). They've begun distributing them at three locations around town.

I went to one of the distribution locations, the tourist station "Isoki no Sato." In addition to the Nauru-kun exhibition booth, even the wall wrapping features Nauru-kun. The coincidental color match made me laugh.

Please note that the business cards are limited to one per person so that more people can receive them. Don't miss out on the discount coupon for the online shop! 🎫

In addition to an upcoming exhibition about Nauru, Nauru himself is also scheduled to visit an event in December. Come experience Nauru in Tawaramoto Town! 🥳
