For the last stop before returning home from this Tokyo trip, I chose Narita Mountain, which is not far from Narita Airport. Coming out of Keisei Narita Station and walking through the nostalgic Omotesando shopping street, it's like walking into another era. The streets are lined with old shops, and wooden buildings and handicrafts are full of surprises. The pace here makes people slow down unconsciously.
🛕 The main hall of Shinshoji Temple is majestic and solemn. It is not only a tourist attraction, but also an important place for blessing in the hearts of the Japanese. In the lingering incense, I also bought a Goshuin after sincerely worshipping and praying for good luck and peace. The park and stone steps behind the temple are quiet and pleasant, and the summer cicadas and ancient trees interweave an almost Zen atmosphere.
🍚 Naritagawa Feng Eel Rice is the highlight of this trip. This century-old store insists on grilling live eels, and the charcoal aroma coming from the charcoal fire has already made people hungry. The skin is slightly charred, the fish is tender, and it is paired with a secret sauce and distinct rice. The first bite is full of Edo style. The waiting time is a little long, but it is totally worth it.
🍵 The next morning, I came to the small dessert shop Sanfangjia. I ordered a bowl of red bean 🫘 and matcha 🍵 combination, sitting in the cabin looking at the small scenery of the courtyard, as if time has stopped. The dessert is not too sweet and melts in the mouth, which is a perfect ending to this journey.
