This trip challenged the suburban mountain trails in Shiding, New Taipei City, and #Emperor's Palace, one of the three major rock fields in the north. The Emperor's Palace Peaks are divided into East Peak, West Peak, and Tianwang Peak. The highest East Peak is 593 meters above sea level. It is famous for its steep mountains and beautiful views. Most of the mountain ridges are huge rocks, which require hands and feet to climb. Therefore, it is known as the three major rock fields in the north along with Wuliaojian Mountain and Bijia Mountain. It is a very popular climbing route.
Taking the shortcut from the back mountain of Foguang Temple, it is indeed a mountain forest path. After finally finding the right direction, I arrived at the intersection of Xifeng and Tianwang Temple. I chose to go to Tianwang Temple and Dongfeng first, then return to Xifeng, and then go to Senhuo Leisure Park for dinner, and then walk back to the Foguang Temple parking lot. The total distance was nearly 12 kilometers, the altitude climbed was 579 meters, and it took 7 hours.
The most famous rock ridge of the Emperor's Palace is a bit scary to walk on, with steep cliffs on both sides. Fortunately, there are guardrails to grab, but the scenery is really amazing! There is a long vertical iron ladder on the East and West Peaks, which is quite challenging. You have to climb to the top to see the endless mountains and peaks. The scene is quite magnificent.
