Jiufen is a mountain town about 40 minutes by car from Taipei. It used to be famous as a gold mine town, but after the mine closed, it gradually became a tourist attraction and gained its current charm.

It's easy to get to Jiufen from Taipei. Take bus number 1062 from Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Station and you'll arrive in about an hour. You can also take a train and bus together. After arriving at Ruifang Station by train, take the bus for about 15 minutes.

Jiufen is charming for its narrow alleys. There are many souvenir shops, delicious street food, and traditional tea houses. The famous foods here are 'Jiufen dumplings' and 'Taiwanese glutinous rice cakes', which are really delicious! Jiufen is also famous as the setting for the anime Spirited Away.
