Pingxi Sky Lanterns: A Romantic Journey from Old Street to Shifen Station

🚉 First Stop at Pingxi Old Street: The Taste of Slow-Paced Time

Pingxi Old Street is built along the mountains, with narrow yet charmingly nostalgic alleys lined with small shops selling traditional snacks and souvenirs. Walking through, it feels as if time has slowed down. The air is filled with the smoky aroma of grilled sausages and the sweet scent of peanut ice cream rolls. 👣

As we strolled, we were drawn to the red lanterns hanging under the eaves, creating a strong nostalgic atmosphere. Many tourists could be seen taking photos by the railway tracks, waiting for the slow-moving train to pass by, becoming the most romantic backdrop in their pictures.

🪁 Writing Down Wishes: The Ritual of Sky Lanterns

Sky lantern shops are scattered throughout the old street, with each lantern in different colors symbolizing various blessings: red for peace, blue for career success, pink for love, and yellow for wealth. 🎨

We chose a four-colored lantern and carefully wrote our wishes on its surface with a brush. As the brush glided across the paper, we felt both solemn and hopeful. Children wrote "Hope to do well in exams," while adults silently wished for family health. This ritual gave dreams a tangible form, making them feel more real.

🎆 The Sky Above Shifen Station: Lanterns Gradually Ascend

Next, we arrived at the bustling Shifen Station. The railway runs directly through the town, with both sides filled with travelers preparing to release their lanterns. As the flames lit up and the lanterns slowly inflated, they eventually floated into the night sky, drawing everyone's gaze upward, their eyes shimmering with hope.

One by one, the lanterns ascended, resembling a galaxy adorning the deep night sky. Whether travelers or locals, everyone was immersed in the quiet yet passionate emotion of the moment.
