The once very 🔥 'You Are the Apple of My Eye' brought Pingxi, a suburb of Taipei, into people's view. A decade later, let's visit the famous Pingxi Line again!
📆 Itinerary: Houtong - Shifen - Pingxi - Jing Tong - Jiufen Old Street
🚗 Transportation guide: Take the train from Taipei Station to Ruifang Station, and buy a Pingxi Day Pass at Ruifang Station, which covers a total of eight stops.
🌟 Highlights of the trip:
💕 Houtong: This is a paradise for cat lovers, mostly inhabited by elderly residents. Lazy cats can be seen everywhere. The cats are also very friendly and love to be petted.
💕 Shifen: Besides the crowded old street, Shifen Waterfall is also very photogenic, and it is the largest curtain-style waterfall in Taiwan. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk from the station to the waterfall.
💕 Pingxi: The most visited spot along the line, with its undulating terrain and houses of varying heights, which are quite distinctive. It's fun to eat snacks and release sky lanterns here.
💕 Jing Tong: The final stop on the Pingxi Line and an important filming location for the movie. Strolling on the abandoned railway tracks. Walking the same path that Shen Chia-yi and Ko Ching-teng walked in the movie is so romantic.
💕 Jiufen Old Street: Jiufen is only a half-hour drive from Pingxi, and the talented singer Chen Qi-zhen even wrote a song for it. Many tourists also choose to stay here for a night.
📌 Tips for visiting:
✔️ In addition to petting cats in Houtong, you can also buy various cat-related souvenirs, such as cat paw pineapple cakes.
✔️ The 'Shifen Happiness' sign near Shifen Station is very photogenic, and there are many snacks along the street.
✔️ When in Pingxi, you must try releasing a sky lantern, with all colors available. Is there anything more romantic than sending your wishes into the sky?
✔️ In Jing Tong, besides checking in at the same location as the movie, it is also a great place to send postcards.
✔️ Jiufen Old Street has become very commercialized now, but the local taro balls are still quite good, worth a try.
