Located in Kwu Tung, the Kwong Tak Lung Soy Sauce Garden has primarily focused on wholesale, which is why it remains relatively unknown to most people. Founded by the Pang family, the soy sauce garden was originally situated in Kowloon City before moving to Yeung Uk Road in Tsuen Wan. Later, due to government development of new towns, it relocated to Kwu Tung, Sheung Shui.
The soy sauce garden produces a variety of products, including Premium Light Soy Sauce, Original Soy Paste, Red Bean Paste, and Lotus Seed Paste. Soy sauce has versatile uses; Original Soy Paste, also known as miso, has a rich flavor; Lotus Seed Paste and Red Bean Paste are used in making dim sum. As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the garden produces limited-edition mooncakes filled with Red Bean Paste and White Lotus Seed Paste.
The drying yard is mainly used for brewing soy sauce and miso, while the storage and workshop are located at the back of the garden. It is rare to find a soy sauce garden that insists on handcrafting its products. During this visit, I took the opportunity to buy Premium Light Soy Sauce, Original Soy Paste, and mooncakes.
The land where the soy sauce garden is located has been slated for development, and the land acquisition is imminent. The craftsmen are also preparing for retirement. If you want to visit, you should do so soon.
Address: Lot 95, Kwu Tung, approximately 754-755A
