Tips for enjoying the Amtrak train ride from New York to Washington D.C. in the eastern United States

If you are traveling to the US, I highly recommend you try the train ride at least once!

I will tell you how to enjoy the eastern US train ride to the fullest :)

1. What is the transportation for the eastern US train ride?
Just like Korea has KTX and SRT, the US has a high-speed train called AMTRACK! You can enjoy various styles of train travel from short distances to long distances using Amtrak.

2. How do I reserve Amtrak?
You can reserve through the Amtrak website or app! In the case of Amtrak, the closer the departure date is to the reservation date, the more expensive it is! The further ahead you are from the departure date, the cheaper the reservation is! Depending on the reservation period, the train company, and the boarding time, the price can vary greatly, so it would be better to find out in advance.

3. How are the Amtrak seats different?
Based on the New York->Washington D.C. route I rode, they can be largely divided into general seats (coach) and business seats. Unlike in Korea, the seat spacing and size are different, but the difference is between reserved seats and free seats! Business class is reserved seating and general seating is free seating. Since free seating is comfortable enough, I don't necessarily recommend business class! Business class is much more expensive ㅠㅠ

4. Can I eat food on the Amtrak train?
You can eat food on the Amtrak train, and you can also buy simple food and drinks at the concession stand on the train! However, since there isn't a lot of variety, I recommend buying a lot of delicious food at the station before boarding! There are many famous and diverse businesses in the station, so I recommend you enjoy your train trip with delicious food :) Staff members will come around frequently to collect trash, so you can have a comfortable train trip~!
