The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH), established in 1869, is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York, adjacent to the west side of Central Park. This world-renowned natural history institution spans over 2.5 million square feet and houses more than 32 million specimens and artifacts, covering fields such as biology, geology, anthropology, and space science. Initiated by naturalist Albert S. Bickmore, the museum has undergone multiple expansions, including the Rose Center in 2000 and the Richard Gilder Center in 2023. It serves as a hub for education and research, attracting millions of visitors annually to explore the mysteries of Earth and the universe.
Must-See Attractions: The museum boasts numerous highlights, including the Titanosaur and T-Rex fossils in the Dinosaur Hall, the 94-foot-long blue whale model in the Hall of Ocean Life, the cosmic shows at the Hayden Planetarium such as "Passport to the Universe," the Star of India sapphire in the Hall of Gems and Minerals, the immersive Invisible Worlds theater, and the Butterfly Conservatory. The Gilder Center also features new interactive zones, perfect for family exploration.
Admission Prices: General admission for adults typically ranges from $28 to $36, covering all permanent exhibits. Special exhibitions require additional fees. Online ticket purchases are recommended to avoid long lines.
Rating: With its educational value and diverse exhibits, it is recommended to spend at least three hours exploring. As a semi-international traveler, I highly recommend this museum for its guaranteed knowledge and surprises!
