Hello! Today, I’d like to share my experience visiting one of the most memorable places during my trip to New York—DUMBO. DUMBO stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, and it’s a trendy neighborhood in Brooklyn centered around the Manhattan Bridge. Unlike the glitz and glamour of Manhattan, DUMBO offers a more artistic and relaxed vibe. ✨
📸 1. Manhattan Bridge Viewpoint
The first thing you’ll want to check out in DUMBO is its iconic photo spot! The view of the Manhattan Bridge framed by Washington Street, with the Empire State Building visible in the background, is one of New York’s most famous Instagram-worthy locations. Seeing this scene in person, after spotting it countless times on social media, was truly moving.
🌊 2. Brooklyn Bridge Park
Brooklyn Bridge Park, which stretches along the waterfront, is perfect for a leisurely stroll. The park was filled with visitors sitting on the grass, gazing at the Manhattan skyline, or snapping photos with the Brooklyn Bridge as their backdrop. 🏙️ The view at sunset, when the sky turns a fiery red, was especially cinematic.
☕ 3. DUMBO’s Cafes & Local Vibes
DUMBO is home to many stylish cafes and galleries, making it a joy to explore on foot.
• Blue Bottle Coffee, a famous New York roastery ☕
• Unique local cafes with creative interiors
• Pop-up galleries and vintage shops
Every street exudes artistic charm, making it a delightful place for a relaxed stroll.
🍦 4. Delicious Treats – Juliana’s Pizza & Ice Cream
DUMBO also boasts plenty of great eateries.
• Juliana’s Pizza, a favorite among locals 🍕
• Vanilla ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory 🍦
Enjoying these treats by the waterfront added a special touch to the experience.
🌉 5. DUMBO at Night
At night, DUMBO transforms into a completely different atmosphere. The illuminated Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge, along with the Manhattan skyline glowing across the river, create a romantic and magical scene. It’s a moment where you can feel both the vibrancy of New York and the laid-back charm of Brooklyn.
📌 Travel Tips
✔️ Visit the Washington Street viewpoint early in the morning for crowd-free photos.
✔️ The best time to visit Brooklyn Bridge Park is during sunset.
✔️ Easily accessible via subway from Manhattan, making it perfect for a half-day itinerary.
💙 Final Thoughts
DUMBO isn’t just a place for taking photos—it’s a neighborhood that showcases a different side of New York. Its relaxed and artistic atmosphere offers a refreshing break from Manhattan’s high energy. If you’re traveling to New York, I highly recommend visiting DUMBO to enjoy the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline while creating unforgettable memories! 🌉✨
