Toshogu Shrine is dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu. At the entrance of Toshogu Shrine, there is a five-story pagoda, and it is said that the central pillar inside is suspended, allowing the pagoda to withstand earthquakes. The 'Yomeimon' gate of Toshogu Shrine is known as the most beautiful gate in Japan. Inside, you can appreciate the beauty of the architecture and the craftsmanship of the artisans. The outer walls, painted entirely white with gofun oil, combined with intricate carvings, contain many details, making it the most magnificent shrine I have ever seen.
After visiting Toshogu Shrine, you can also visit Rinnoji Temple and Futarasan Shrine. The three are not far from each other, making it perfect to spend a day visiting all of them.
