Lugu Lake in Yunnan, one of the most beautiful freshwater lakes in China

A scenic spot that must be included in the Lijiang, Yunnan tourism is one of the most beautiful freshwater lakes in China. It is famous for its clear water and magnificent natural scenery and is known as the "Pearl of the Plateau".

The weather was great when we visited. The sky was blue without a single cloud, which combined perfectly with Lugu Lake, presenting a turquoise scenery of the lake and sky, with the mountains and forests and water birds and boats as the backdrop. It was such a quiet and peaceful landscape painting with an indescribable otherworldly beauty.

The local aborigines of Lugu Lake are the Mosuo people, who have a unique matriarchal society and bonfire party customs that you can experience. There are several attractions worth visiting in the scenic area, such as the grass sea with dense reeds and the three Penglai Islands in the lake: Liwubi Island, Shewai Island, and Lige Island.

The best way to tour the lake is by boat. Taking the Mosuo people's traditional means of transportation, the canoe, also known as the pig trough boat, and admiring the beautiful scenery of the lake and mountains is a refreshing experience.
