Lugu Lake Cycling (Yunnan Section) Highlights Guide

Lugu Lake's beauty can only be truly appreciated in person. There are many ways to tour Lugu Lake, and cycling is an excellent choice. A full cycling tour around Lugu Lake is about 75 km, but if time is limited, we recommend the eastern route (Yunnan section). Here, the lake water is the clearest, the scenery is the most beautiful, and it's perfect for cycling.

Must-see highlights along the way:

1️⃣ Lige Peninsula (Best Photography Spot)
Location: On the hillside near Lige Village, there's a dedicated viewing platform
🌟 Highlights: Overlooking the entire Lige Peninsula, the azure lake water surrounds the peninsula, resembling an emerald pendant.

2️⃣ Nise Village (Clearest Lake Water)
Location: Continue cycling eastward from Lige Village for about 5 km
🌟 Highlights: The lake water's color changes from blue to green, with extremely high transparency, allowing clear views of underwater aquatic plants. This area is quiet and less crowded.

3️⃣ Xiao Luoshui Village (Unspoiled Village)
Location: The end of the eastern route, about 15 km from Daluoshui Village
🌟 Highlights: This is a Mosuo village with pristine scenery. You can see water birds inhabiting the lakeside and take a pig trough boat tour on the lake.

4️⃣ Walking Marriage Bridge (Mosuo Culture Experience)
Location: Located near the Caohai (grass sea) on the western route of Lugu Lake
🌟 Highlights: A wooden bridge connecting the two shores lies across the Caohai. In the past, Mosuo youths would meet here, symbolizing the Mosuo "walking marriage" culture. Patches of aquatic plants are visible in the waterway beneath the bridge, and you can take a boat ride through the Caohai.

✅ Recommended cycling route: Daluoshui Village → Lige Viewing Platform → Lige Village → Nise Village → Xiao Luoshui Village (Eastern route highlights, about 20 km)
✅ Best time: Cycle in the morning or afternoon to avoid the strong midday sun.
✅ Safety precautions: There are many vehicles on the lakeside road, and they travel at high speeds. Pay attention to safety while cycling.
