🏡 Wat Chotikaram, originally named Wat Sam Chin, was built around 1810. It is believed to have been constructed by three Chinese siblings. Later, Chao Phraya Chotirat Ratchasethi renovated the temple, and in 1940, its name was changed to Wat Chotikaram, reflecting the title of Chao Phraya Chotirat.
Key attractions within the temple include:
🏠 The Ubosot: Featuring a curved base resembling a ship, it lacks traditional roof decorations like chofahs and bai raka. The front has a porch, and the gable is sculpted with scenes from the Puritat Jataka amidst intricate stucco designs, floral motifs, and porcelain decorations. The niches are also adorned with porcelain.
⛺ The Vihara: A rectangular brick and mortar structure housing Luang Por Sukhothai, the principal Buddha image in the Mara Vijaya posture, placed on a Chukchi base. The interior walls feature murals depicting the life of Buddha. The front door is carved with Chinese-style guardian figures. The vihara is surrounded by a wall with small prangs adorned with yellow tiles at each corner.
🧱 The Dhammasan: Believed to date back to the early Ayutthaya period, it is considered the oldest in the area.
🛕 The Twenty-Cornered Pagoda: Located between the Ubosot and the Vihara.
🖼 The Fine Arts Department has registered the Ubosot, Vihara, pagoda, and the old sermon hall as historical sites.
