Black Walls and Riverside Views

It’s not as towering as some other castles, but it’s got style, and it’s right across from the famous Korakuen Garden, so it’s easy to hit both in one go.

The inside is modern and has some cool exhibits where you can learn about samurai history and even try on armor if you’re feeling it. The views from the top are pretty sweet too, especially with the river flowing right alongside. At night, they sometimes light up the castle, giving it this moody, dramatic look that’s perfect for a night stroll. It’s an easy stop if you’re in Okayama, and definitely worth a visit for the mix of history, aesthetics, and that relaxed, uncrowded atmosphere. A solid, underrated castle experience for sure.
