Hamajima is a crescent-shaped sandbar island about 200 meters long, located between Ishigaki Island and Kohama Island in Okinawa Prefecture.
This island only appears during low tide, earning its nickname "Phantom Island." It is a popular destination often visited alongside marine activities in the surrounding waters of Ishigaki Island, Kohama Island, and Kamiyama Island.
The island itself is made of white sand, but some exposed reefs make wearing sandals a safer choice. The beach features shallow, crystal-clear waters that are soothing just to look at, and visitors can enjoy swimming and snorkeling here.
📍Location: Kohama, Taketomi Town, Yaeyama District, Okinawa Prefecture
🛥️Access: Typically visited as part of marine activity tours departing from Ishigaki Island or Kohama Island.
