[Osaka, Namba] Dining Stage Sakaiya: A popular lunch spot with a long line every day

I went to Dining Stage Sakaiya, a restaurant and izakaya in Osaka Nankai.

This restaurant is located in the food and beverage zone "Nambako Mejirushi" in Namba CITY, and serves home-cooked meals made with local ingredients. It has been selected as one of Tabelog's top 100 restaurants, and is so popular that you have to queue at lunchtime.

■Sakaiya Set Two-Tiered Box 1200 yen
The set includes today's sashimi, kushikatsu, a side dish, pickles, soup, and rice.

On the day I visited, the menu included tuna and amberjack sashimi, kushikatsu and fried shrimp, deep-fried daikon radish, candied sweet potato, simmered eggplant, mentaiko potato salad, simmered fish, tamagoyaki (rolled omelette), morokyu (soft pickled cucumber), and daikon pickles.

A hearty lunch with two tiers of side dishes. The fried shrimp and deep-fried daikon radish seem to be the specialty dishes.

The sashimi is made with fresh, crunchy ingredients. The slices are thick and very filling. All of them are seasoned with a fine flavor and are very delicious.

■Specialty croquette: Nikujaga (meat and potato stew) 420 yen
It's like a nikujaga (meat and potato stew) croquette made with taro, and the sweet ingredients pop out from the crispy batter. It's a Western-style croquette topped with demi-glace sauce.

I arrived at the restaurant around 11:00 when it opened, but there were already about five groups of people waiting in line and people eating inside, so I waited in line for about 30 minutes to get in. It's a lunch that's worth waiting in line for.
