[A shrine in Osaka] Ohatsutenjin Shrine

Tsuyutenjin Shrine (Ohatsu Tenjin)

Address: 2-5-4 Sonezaki, Kita-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture

Opening hours: 6:00-23:00

Access: 15 minutes on foot through the underground at Umeda Station

In 1703, Chikamatsu Monzaemon wrote the puppet play "Sonezaki Shinju" based on a true double suicide that took place in the grounds of this shrine.

It came to be called "Ohatsu Tenjin" after the heroine's name "Ohatsu".

The official name is [Tsuyu no Tenjin]

Famous as a sacred place for lovers!
This is the first time I've seen a shrine that's completely in the middle of the big city of Osaka.
