Osaka-Kyoto Hankyu Railway Usage Guide🚟

1. Basic Information
Line Name: Hankyu Kyoto Line
Osaka Departure Station: Hankyu Umeda Station
Kyoto Arrival Station: Hankyu Kawaramachi Station
(Close to central areas like Gion, Shijo, Nishiki Market)

2. Travel Time & Fare
Travel Time: About 40-45 minutes (Limited Express basis)
Fare: Approximately 400-430 yen for adults (as of 2025)

3. Train Types (Must Know!)
Local: Stops at all stations — slow
Rapid: Skips some intermediate stations
Semi-Express: Stops at some stations
Limited Express: Fast and stops only at major stations — recommended!
TIP: Taking the Limited Express from Umeda means fewer stops to Kyoto, so it's faster.

4. How to Board
Step 1: Purchase ticket or use IC card
Buy tickets at ticket machines inside Hankyu Umeda Station
Or use transportation cards like ICOCA, Suica, Pasmo
Step 2: Check the platform
Board the train marked “for Kyoto”
Refer to electronic boards or route maps and board the train bound for Kawaramachi

5. Notes
Don’t confuse with JR!
JR Osaka Station and Hankyu Umeda Station have similar names but are different locations (5-7 minutes on foot)
No eating on the train
For manners, avoid eating on regular trains (including Limited Express)
Avoid rush hours
If carrying large luggage: train space is limited, so use the rear cars

6. Tips After Arrival
Kawaramachi Station is underground
Depending on the exit, you can walk to Gion, Shijo, Yasaka Shrine, Nishiki Market
