Osaka Pokemon cafe!

While wandering around Osaka, I accidentally discovered this small café hidden in a residential area—run by an elderly grandpa and grandma in the ground floor of a detached house. The wooden door curtain and the greenery by the window complement each other beautifully, and as soon as you push open the door, you can smell the sweet aroma of baking and the rich scent of coffee.
The interior is arranged like a cozy living room: an old piano with dried flowers on it, walls covered with handwritten menus and postcards sent by customers, and strings of paper cranes folded by grandma herself hanging as decorations, gently swaying in the breeze. The most surprising thing is the unbelievably affordable prices: the signature sandwich uses freshly baked bread of the day, filled with thick-cut ham and soft-boiled egg, with fresh and crisp vegetables, costing only about 20 RMB per serving; coffee and tea drinks are also mostly around 20 RMB. The iced latte is made with fresh milk from a local dairy, and the milk foam is as delicate as clouds.
The breakfast set also comes with grandma’s homemade snacks as a bonus, and when paying, you can always receive candies and paper cranes from her, as she smiles and says “ありがとう” in not-so-fluent English. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the nearest station, and the exact location is hidden in a residential street, so it’s recommended to use navigation to search for a nearby long-established café. These kinds of small shops run by local elders may not have exquisite plating, but they offer a warmth that chain stores can’t replicate—drinking coffee while watching grandpa grind beans behind the counter and grandma bustling in the kitchen is the most authentic glimpse of life during a trip to Japan.
