George Town, Penang, Malaysia, is a world-renowned tourist destination, attracting thousands of tourists daily. Penang boasts many renowned Chinese historical and cultural temples and attractions. This time, I'd like to introduce one I visited in 2024: the 9 Emperor Gods Temple on Toutiao Road. Admission is free for photos and prayers, and no entrance fee is required. Shoes must be removed inside the temple. The temple is conveniently located near the shipping terminal and bus station. The Dou Mu Temple on Toutiao Road in Penang was built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, boasting a history of over a hundred years. The previous incumbent, Mr. Li, brought the Buddha statues from the Qing Dynasty to Penang. At the time, there was no fixed location for the temple. Every year during the Nine Emperor Gods Festival in the ninth month of the lunar calendar, they would rent houses from residents along the route and set up temporary altars for worshippers. The temple has three floors. Except for the ground floor hall, the Buddha statues on the other two floors are enshrined in the same manner as when the temple was originally located on First Road. The temple is majestic and beautifully decorated, both exterior and interior, making it a perfect spot for photo opportunities. 📸
Address: Gat Lebuh Macalum, 10300 George Town, Pulau Pinang
