Back in Osaka~ I originally planned to see the cherry blossoms, but the flowers haven’t fully bloomed yet. Luckily, there was a big feast to make up for it! This time, I challenged myself with Osaka’s Michelin one-star French restaurant La Baie. The moment I walked in, the decor screamed "luxury"—so grand and impressive!
We chose the most expensive menu with wine pairing, costing nearly 60,000 yen per person (ouch, my heart hurts), but seeing the spread of ingredients on the table made it feel worth it! Huge scoops of caviar and black truffle overflowing, lobster and wagyu beef of unbeatable quality, foie gras and pigeon cooked with great depth. The best was the black truffle radish soup, where French soul met Japanese essence—so fresh it made my tongue tingle!
The dessert was just okay. The crepes we paid extra for were flambéed right at the table and looked eye-catching, but the taste was too sour and not really to my liking. The wine pairing included three glasses of white wine (mainly for seafood). Except for the Riesling, I really wasn’t used to the others 😂 (as a wine newbie, I dare not judge recklessly).
But the service was flawless! Someone even guided me to the restroom, and helped put on my coat when leaving. I felt like royalty all night—this experience alone was worth the price~ 💸 Next time, I’ll find a less crowded time during cherry blossom season to stay at a 🌰 hotel and try other great restaurants!
