Located on the west side of Osaka Castle, the Osaka Museum of History is a unique building constructed on the site of the 1,300-year-old Namba cultural ruins. To protect these precious remains, the museum features an innovative 10-story design that minimizes the footprint while creating a lush Namba Palace Ruins Park for the public.
Step inside the museum and start on the tenth floor with a restored model of the ancient Namba Palace. The vermilion pillars and court figures are lifelike, complemented by large screen animations that immerse you in the court ceremonies of the Nara period. Descend floor by floor to explore the bustling streets of the Honganji era, the commercial vitality of the Edo period, and the urban transformations of modern Osaka. The museum also offers an archaeological experience area where visitors can touch history firsthand.
Opening hours: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM (extended to 8:00 PM on Fridays), admission 600 yen. This place is not just a museum, but a gateway through time!
