Exploring the Best of Osaka 🏮🗾 – From Serene Shrines to Culinary Shopping Street Thrills!
Osaka totally surprised me with its blend of chill green spaces and quirky museums. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful park break or on a hunt for Japan’s iconic kitchen gear, the city’s got you covered. Here’s my pick of the top spots you can’t miss!
Top Spots to Visit in Osaka:
Namba – The always-on heart of Osaka (Chuo Ward, 542-0076). Skip the taxis – zoom in on the Metro, since Namba is seriously well-connected and easy to access 24/7!
Sumiyoshi Park – Nature break in the city! (1 Chome-1-13 Hamaguchihigashi, Suminoe Ward, 559-0002; Open all day). Early mornings are peaceful here if you want a jog or some snaps without crowds.
Towel Museum – (6F Takashimaya, 5 Chome−1−5 Nanba, Chuo Ward, 542-0076; 10:00-19:00). Surprisingly awesome! The displays are fun, and you can grab unique, plush souvenirs.
Sumiyoshi Taisha – Osaka’s legendary shrine (2 Chome-9-89 Sumiyoshi, Sumiyoshi Ward, 558-0045; opening hours vary seasonally, ~6:00-17:00). Don’t skip the arched bridge – it’s postcard-perfect and comes alive during festivals.
Sennichimae Doguyasuji Shopping Street – A heaven for cooks and foodies (Nanbasennichimae, Chuo Ward, 542-0075; 10:00-18:00). You’ll find everything from pro knives to whimsical Japanese tableware, all in one lively arcade.
Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum – If you’re into Japanese art, this place is a hidden gem. Check for special exhibitions!
Getting Around: Grab an ICOCA card for the subway/trains – tap-and-go everywhere, no cash fuss. Google Maps is your best friend for routes.
Eat This: Try takoyaki (find stands near Namba) and the fluffy pancakes at Nanba cafés. Bring a reusable bottle – parks have free water fountains.
Money & Tips: Most spots are cash-friendly, but cards work in major stores. Spring/fall is best for park strolls (rainy summers are humid!). No visa hassle for most tourists.
