Osaka Castle is one of Osaka, Japan's most famous landmarks. Autumn (October to December) is the perfect time to enjoy the vibrant red foliage around the castle.
Autumn Foliage Overview
• Best Viewing Time: According to the 2024 Japan Autumn Foliage Forecast, Osaka's autumn foliage season typically begins in mid-October and peaks from mid-November to early December. 2025 is expected to be similar, with peak foliage around mid-to-late November. The Japanese maples and ginkgo trees in Osaka Castle Park will be particularly vibrant in vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows.
• Autumn Foliage Spots:
Nishinomaru Garden: Located west of Osaka Castle, this garden boasts approximately 300 cherry and maple trees that turn red in autumn, creating a stunning contrast with the castle tower. Admission is approximately 200 yen (approximately US$1.35). Ginkgo Tree Walk: The east side of the park forms a golden path lined with ginkgo trees. One tree, over 100 years old, is particularly striking and perfect for photo ops.
Japanese Garden: The park's Japanese garden features maple and hazel trees, creating a vibrant display of autumn colors and adding to the tranquil atmosphere.
Castle Tower View: Climb the Osaka Castle tower (entrance fee, approximately 600 yen) and enjoy a panoramic view of the park from the fifth-floor observation deck. The autumn leaves intertwine with the city skyline, creating a spectacular view.
