When you come to admire Mount Fuji, you must visit Oshino Hakkai.
Oshino Hakkai is a scenic spot on Mount Fuji that features eight clear ponds. At first I thought it was like a big park, but when I got here, I found that it was a beautiful place that combines a picturesque big park with a place for tourists to walk leisurely, eat and shop.
Oshino Hakkai is a popular scenic spot located between Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Yamanaka on the southeast side of the island. The name comes from the eight ponds formed by the melted snow of Mount Fuji gushing out in Oshino Village. Because the snow water flows underground and is naturally filtered for decades before gushing out, it is extremely clear. Combined with the beautiful view of Mount Fuji from a distance, Oshino Hakkai has become a well-known tourist destination in the Fuji Five Lakes area.
We went for a walk on a weekend morning at the end of January. It just happened to be the first snowfall, and everywhere was truly breathtakingly beautiful. It was beautiful even when taking photos. The lake water is indeed very clear, so clear that you can see the bottom. Then we ate some snacks while walking, such as meatballs, grilled corn, grilled grass cakes, ice cream of different flavors, etc. The children were not hungry, so they did not go into the restaurant, but they saw udon, which seemed delicious. Also, check out the souvenir shop for local specialties such as Yamanashi honey, and there are also bags of local village udon available for purchase.
You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains, taste delicious food and enjoy shopping. If I have the chance, I really want to come again in another season!
