Address: 354 Shinobukusa, Oshino Village, Minamitsuru-gun, Yamanashi Prefecture
The 8 depressions formed by the eruption of Mount Fuji changed the landform. After the snow melted, springs emerged into 8 ponds, including Deguchi Pond, Okama Pond, Botsu Pond, Choshi Pond, Oki Pond, Turbid Pond, Kagami Pond, and Acorus Pond, becoming the most distinctive cultural heritage of Oshino Village. Later, villagers also dug artificial pools such as Zhongchi and diverted mountain spring water for tourists to drink.
The Deba Pond is located inside the Oshino Hakkai Observatory. There is a small entrance fee (950 yen for 2 adults, 1 child and 2 bags of fish food), but the scenery inside is really beautiful, isolated from the hustle and bustle of the crowds outside buying souvenirs, and it is very fascinating.
