Otaru is a popular tourist destination often visited in conjunction with Sapporo. Besides the famous Otaru Canal, the Music Box Museum is a must-visit spot. The museum houses a variety of music boxes, from simple ones featuring well-known animations and classical tunes to expensive and ornate ones, as well as jukeboxes. Behind the main building, the annex sells music boxes themed around Studio Ghibli animations. Some of the expensive ones are truly breathtaking, making it enjoyable just to browse. The wooden floor of the building has a distinctive oil smell that evokes nostalgia. Highly recommended for those who want to fill their Sapporo trip with a sense of nostalgia and emotion!
