🚃 Convenient and fast transportation
From Kyoto, take the JR Kosei Line to Otsu-kyō Station in about 10 minutes, followed by a 15-minute walk to Omi-jingu Shrine. The streets along the way are tranquil and the walk is very pleasant. 🌿
⛩️ Hyakunin Isshu and the God of Time
Omi-jingu Shrine is dedicated to Emperor Tenji and is a sacred site for the Hyakunin Isshu and competitive karuta. 🎴The God of Time is also enshrined within the grounds. Vintage water clocks and day clocks represent a rich cultural heritage. ⌛
🌸 A shrine with beauty in all seasons.
Spring boasts cherry blossoms, summer boasts lush greenery, autumn boasts crimson mountains, and winter boasts a tranquil snowscape. ✨The vibrant vermilion of the shrine building is photogenic. 📸
💡 A great half-day trip around Kyoto
If you're looking for a change of pace without traveling too far, Omi-jingu Shrine is the perfect destination for a short getaway.
