Kumano Kodo Experience Japan's Beautiful Hiking Trails

Take bus No. 31 from Kii-Katsuura Station and get off at Daimon-zaka for about 25 minutes. There is a tourist center at Daimon-zaka where you can pick up a map. Beginner hikers should take a hiking bamboo from the hiking bamboo rack near the tourist area. This bamboo is very useful. Remember to return it to the hiking rack near the bus stop on the way back.
If you start the Taiye Historic Trail from Damenzaka, you will find that the trail is shaded by large trees and has large stone steps. It is very labor-saving and safe to walk along it while holding a bamboo pole. It takes about 1.5-2 hours to walk slowly to the next stop, Nachi Taisha Shrine and the Three-Storied Pagoda, to enjoy the scenery of Nachi Mountain and the shrine. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Hiryu Shrine and Nachi Falls. You have to pay 300 yen to go inside and take a closer look at the Nachi no Yan. On the way back, you can take a bus from Nachi Falls Station back to Kii-Katsuura Station. Remember to return the bamboo shoots at the bamboo rack in front of Nachi Falls Station😊
