🔥 Hidden Roast Meat Gem in Penang – Weng Kei Wantan Mee 荣記茶餐室

We stumbled upon Weng Kei Wantan Mee (荣記茶餐室) while searching for a breakfast spot in Penang, and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. Tucked away at a corner, this humble, old-school coffee shop didn’t look particularly eye-catching at first glance — but as they say, don’t judge a book by its cover.

Despite its modest setting and lack of a morning crowd, the food quickly impressed us. The roasted meats were truly standout — the crispy pork belly had a perfectly crackling skin, while the char siew was juicy, savoury, and beautifully caramelised. Every bite packed deep, smoky flavour.

The wanton noodles were equally enjoyable — springy, nicely seasoned, and paired wonderfully with the meats. The wantons themselves were plump, meaty, and full of flavour. We also had their local-style kopi, which was robust and strong — maybe a bit too thick for some, but satisfying for anyone who enjoys the authentic Malaysian coffee experience.

Considering the quality of the food, the prices were very reasonable. This place is truly a hidden gem — the kind of local eatery that delivers on taste without trying too hard.
