Phang Nga City Pillar Shrine - Chao Mae Sai Thong

Phang Nga Provincial City Pillar Shrine is a very beautiful mixed art. The base is Srivijaya art. The building is Rattanakosin art. The curved roof is a castle-like Khmer art according to the "Thewarat" belief. The top of the prang is Lopburi art, called "Benjapra".
The legend says that
At that time, there was a procession of people holding gongs and drums to call the names of the pregnant women of the house. There was an agreement that the person who was called was prohibited from answering until the house of Nang Sai Thong in Tambon Tai Mueang, which is now. Her husband was not home. While the gong and drum procession called Nang Sai Thong's name, Nang Sai Thong answered because she thought her husband was calling her. She was therefore taken to the spirit sacrifice ceremony by sitting in a hole while the ceremony was performed. Auspicious wood was used to hammer in the black magic ceremony as the city pillar shrine. It is amazing that Nang Sai Thong's blood that splashed onto the wooden pillar of the city was later covered by termites but was not destroyed or rotted. It is still in good condition until today.
