If you are looking for a place to visit that combines history, art, culture and nature, the Phra Nakhon Khiri National Museum, also known as “Khao Wang” in Phetchaburi Province, is a must-see destination.
Phra Nakhon Khiri is a palace located on the top of Khao Samana, built during the reign of King Rama IV in 1858. Inside, there are a group of buildings that combine Thai, Chinese and European architecture, such as the Wechayan Wichian Prasat Throne Hall, the Pramot Mahaisawan Throne Hall and the Ratcha Thammasabha Throne Hall. There are also Wat Phra Kaew Noi and Phra That Chom Phet located on the top of the hill.
To get to the top of the hill, you can choose to walk along a nature trail or take the electric tram that is available. Once you reach the top of the hill, you will be treated to a beautiful view of Phetchaburi City and the Gulf of Thailand.
The museum displays interesting antiques and artifacts, such as royal regalia, Benjarong porcelain and old photographs that tell the story of the palace and Phetchaburi City in the past.
