Sam Phan Bok is a rocky rapids or cliffs under the Mekong River in Pho Sai District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. It was formed by the force of the whirlpools, which eroded into more than 3,000 pools. They appear during the dry season when the water level dries up. These rapids will emerge from the water like mountains in the middle of the Mekong River, so the locals call them the Grand Canyon of the Mekong River. This phenomenon occurs from around October to May. After that, the rapids will flood and submerge the rapids.
This station is a famous tourist attraction in Ubon Ratchathani Province. There is no public transportation to get there, so it is more difficult to get there than other places. However, I guarantee that you will get beautiful and unique photos. It is beautiful both at sunrise and sunset. If you want to take a boat trip, there is a service. Short distance 500 baht for 30 minutes, long distance 1,000 baht for approximately 1 hour.
