Departing from Ubon Ratchathani city, we headed towards the banks of the Mekong River. Our destination was Phan Sam Bok, a natural rock formation carved by water over thousands of years, creating uniquely shaped pools, each large and small, resembling the "Grand Canyon of Thailand," yet with a unique Isan charm.
Upon arrival, the first thing you'll notice is a row of reddish-brown rocks stretching as far as the eye can see. As you walk closer, you'll discover pools, or boks, of various shapes. Some are beautifully rounded like bowls, while others are long, resembling natural channels. Altogether, there are over 1,300 pools, hence the name "Phan Sam Bok."
During low tide, the vast expanse of rocks emerges from the water, offering ample opportunity to explore. Walking along, you'll feel lost in another world.
The highlight here is the uniquely shaped rock pools, many of which have become popular photo spots. I couldn't resist taking my camera out to capture the light and shadows on the rock surfaces and the water reflecting the sky, creating unique and beautiful images.
🌅 Best time to visit:
• Morning - afternoon, the weather is not too hot, perfect for exploring.
• Evening, near sunset. The golden light bathes the rocks, creating a truly romantic atmosphere.
