Avoiding the crowded Patong Beach in Phuket and spending the day relaxing at Karon Beach and its clifftop cafe is the perfect way to start your vacation!

Start with Karon Beach! The sand is much finer than Patong, and feels like walking on clouds. After 3 PM, the sun fades, so rent a beach chair and relax on the ocean. The waves are a gradient Tiffany blue, and your photos won't even need a filter. In the evening, you can even watch the tangerine sunset, tinting the sea surface a golden red. It's so romantic you'll want to scream!

Next, head to the nearby clifftop cafe. Sit on the cliffside, with the endless ocean below, order a Thai iced latte and mango sticky rice, and just relax in the sea breeze. All your worries will melt away. The best part is, the photos are beyond captivating! With white railings and a blue ocean backdrop, any photo will look stunning in a light-colored skirt. I recommend going at 4 PM when the light isn't too harsh.

Tips:
• Karon Beach has strong UV rays, so be sure to wear high-factor sunscreen and bring a sun hat.
• The Cliff Café can get crowded on weekends, so if you want a view, go early.
• The two locations are not far from each other, about a 10-minute taxi ride, so it's recommended to schedule them on the same day.
