| The "Hanging Temple" hidden on cliffs in the deep mountains. On a whim, I decided to take my family to hike the Lingtong Rock Hanging Temple. At 7 a.m., after enjoying McDonald's hash browns and freshly brewed aromatic coffee at home ☕️, our family of three hit the road.
The drive 🚗 from Xiamen to Lingtong Rock is about 160 kilometers, taking roughly two hours. We arrived at the foot of the mountain just after 9 a.m., where there were already many vehicles and tourists. Fortunately, our early start helped us avoid the potential queues of cars 🚗 and crowds during the descent.
📍 Location: Zhangzhou Pinghe Lingtong Rock Scenic Area (Qingyun Hotel)
🎫 Ticket: 20 RMB/person (half-price for seniors aged 60-70), parking fee 10 RMB/vehicle
🅿️ Parking: Be sure to navigate to the [Qingyun Hotel Parking Lot], the closest parking area to the scenic spot.
After entering the scenic area, walk along the cement road for about 15 minutes. Then, start climbing the stairs—it takes about an hour to reach the destination, the Hanging Temple. The path is shaded by lush trees, and the fresh forest air is invigorating. The descent is much quicker, taking only around 30 minutes to return to the starting point. Afterward, we drove to the county town for lunch before heading back to Xiamen.
I particularly love outdoor activities like this with my child—it’s a great way to connect with nature and stay active. Looking back on the trip, with sunshine bathing the land, my heart is filled with contentment.
