Victory Star Village, originally the "Soran Army Officer Housing Complex" of the Japanese Army.
In 1927, the Japanese Army's 8th Flying Regiment stationed at Pingtung Airfield began constructing officer residences in Pingtung City the following year. As the regiment expanded into the 3rd Flying Group in 1938, the "Soran Army Officer Housing Complex" was built in 1937 to accommodate the growing personnel. This area is now known as Victory Star Village.
Today, these old residences have been restored to preserve their original appearance while housing various artistic shops and restaurants. Visitors can leisurely enjoy the historical ambiance, admire the greenery surrounding the buildings, and experience a unique architectural style distinct from other cities. It's a great choice for a day trip.
Adjacent to Victory Star Village are Desheng Village and Chongren Village's Airborne Zone. Due to severe damage, these areas couldn't be restored. Instead, they have been transformed into a heritage park featuring remnants of old buildings, art installations, and lighting effects. Walking along the park's pathways, you can see embedded roof tiles and wooden pieces as part of the installations, offering a tangible connection to history.
