"Comfortable Chinese food" discovered at Juhongyuan Chinese Restaurant in Pingyao Ancient City

#0YenTravel2025Autumn

While walking down South Street in the World Heritage Site of Pingyao Ancient City, I came across a quaint building lined with red lanterns. That was Juhongyuan Chinese Restaurant.

The exterior is quintessentially "ancient city," with a relaxing atmosphere that seems a little removed from the hustle and bustle of the street.

Stepping inside, I was greeted by an old-fashioned interior that exuded the warmth of wood.

Calligraphy and old photographs adorned the walls, making me feel like I'd stepped back in time.

The staff were welcoming with smiles, and the restaurant felt so homey it was hard to believe it was in the middle of a tourist spot.

🏯 The atmosphere was also a treat

From our window seats, we could see the cobblestone streets of the ancient city, and it was enjoyable to watch the people passing by while we dined.

The traditional music playing inside the restaurant was soothing, and it felt like we'd traveled back in time to a corner of the ancient city.

💬 Review Summary
• Taste: ★★★☆☆ (Gentle, homey Chinese)
• Atmosphere: ★★★★★ (Full of ancient city charm)
• Service: ★★★★☆ (Friendly and courteous)
• Value for money: ★★★☆☆ (Tourist prices, but still worth it)
