Carmo Church
Carmo Church is another attraction in Porto that "Azulejos fans" must not miss. The front facade of the church is exquisite and elegant, but the real highlight is the blue and white tile mural on the side wall - Rococo style, complex and elegant, from church stories, monastic scenes to religious symbols, each frame is like a delicate painting.
This wall often appears in postcards and beautiful Instagram photos. When you actually stand in front of it, you can feel its meticulous craftsmanship and its quiet and sacredness.

The building in the middle is Casa Escondida.
You may notice that between the two churches there is a mini house that is only about one meter wide - this is the legendary "Hidden House (Casa Escondida)"! It was designed to avoid churches sharing the same wall and was also said to be used to prevent contact between monks and nuns. Although the wall is not clearly visible to the naked eye, looking back after knowing this story, this gap carries a mysterious and strange meaning.
Today, the little house is open to visitors (for an additional fee), but many people miss it. If you don’t look closely, you might actually think it’s just two churches stuck together.
