[Trip Moment Delivery🗞️]
On this trip, I crossed Porto's symbol, the Luís I Bridge (Ponte Luís I)! 🇵🇹🌉✨
🛄|Experience of Visiting Luís I Bridge
The Luís I Bridge, towering over the Douro River that flows through Porto, is a representative landmark of the city. This impressive iron arch structure was designed by French engineer Théophile Seyrig, a disciple of Eiffel, and completed in 1886. It remains a beloved symbol of Porto to this day.
🌉 Majestic Arch Structure
The most striking feature of the bridge is its massive iron arch, measuring 385 meters in length and 45 meters in height. The arch, spanning the river, harmonizes beautifully with the blue sky, showcasing its grandeur. Below, the gently flowing Douro River and the Vila Nova de Gaia village, lined with Porto wine cellars, come into view.
🚶 Two Walkways
The Luís I Bridge is divided into two levels. The upper level is shared by metro trains and pedestrians, offering a breathtaking view of Porto from above. The lower level is used by vehicles and pedestrians, allowing a closer perspective of Porto's vibrant scenery along the river. I walked on the upper level, where the red-roofed old town of Porto, riverside wine cellars, and the rolling hills in the distance unfolded before my eyes, leaving me in awe.
🌅 A Famous Photo Spot
Especially at sunset, the view of Porto's old town and the golden reflections on the Douro River from the bridge is truly spectacular. The shimmering golden waves on the river and the orange-tinted red roofs create a scene unique to Porto. Everyone walking on the bridge paused to capture the moment with their cameras! 🫠
