A Summer Visit to Prague Castle

We visited during the height of summer, and despite the tourist crowds, we never had to wait too long to enter any building. Instead of getting off the tram at the Prague Castle stop, exit one stop earlier at Kralovsky Letohradek and walk through the King's Gardens. It's always fascinating to arrive during the guards' exchange at the Jeleni Prikop entrance. Prague is steeped in history, with intriguing architecture everywhere. The St. Vitus Cathedral is the main attraction, and rightly so. It houses numerous altars and the graves of past rulers. If you visit at the right time of day, you'll witness the enchanting light through the stained glass windows. The cathedral took nearly 600 years to complete. The Golden Lane is also quite captivating with its small shops and unique architecture. Be sure to purchase tickets online; the line at the ticket office was immense when we arrived.
