Introducing Yucheng Station

Yucheng Posthouse, located outside the South Gate Street of Gaoyou Ancient City in Jiangsu Province, is China's largest and best-preserved ancient post station. As early as the 24th year of the reign of Qin Emperor Ying Zheng ( 223 BC ), a high platform was built here, a post station was established, and the place was named Gaoyou. Of the more than 2,000 counties and cities in China, Gaoyou is the only one to have its name associated with postal traditions.

The existing Yucheng Posthouse, originally built in 1375 during the eighth year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty, is now China's only postal museum. Yucheng is another name for Gaoyou, named after the line " My hometown is like an inverted bowl, nestled on the ridge between Yang and Chu " by the Song Dynasty poet Qin Shaoyou, who was a native of Gaoyou .
