Puli, Nantou | Wenmi Food Cour

Puli, Nantou | Wenmi Food Court - A Gentle Taste of the Land

During my trip to Puli, I didn't seek out the bustling tourist spots. Instead, I followed the sunlight, past the old houses lining the street, and found myself in a quiet shop called Wenmi Food Court. It's a delicious, traditional eatery that serves "what you want to eat." On the counter, bags of traditional dim sum, wrapped in plastic bags, are simple yet captivating.

I chose two:

🌿 Mugwort Cake, soft and sticky, with a light grassy aroma on the outside. Filled with a rich, salty and fragrant shredded radish and dried tofu with mushrooms. It was like being transported back to the corners of the market as a child, with the flavors of my mother.

🍠 Taro Salted Cake, sliced and steamed, contains whole pieces of shredded taro and pork belly. Every bite is a testament to the dedication and time spent.

The shop isn't decorated in a sparse manner, but the windows offer a view of Puli's blue sky and distant mountains.

This dim sum is inexpensive, yet more memorable than many a feast.
