"Beyond the fireworks, an ancient world guarded by gods"—A Tour of Gyeongbokgung Palace
Puli is a land of mountains, water, and spirits. Having walked through several temples, my steps have long since become accustomed to the scent and air of incense and crimson. But as I approached Gyeongbokgung Palace, a different, calming atmosphere greeted me—not oppressive, nor welcoming, but a kind of silent, "I know you're coming."
The temple's principal deity is the Third Prince of the Su family. He sits solemnly, his dark, furious face radiating an upright expression that brooks no evil. He speaks silently, but if you listen carefully, you will hear: "Straightforwardness leads to unwavering integrity; in troubled times, those who guard the boundaries are needed."
I clasped my hands together and slightly closed my eyes. Suddenly, a breeze arose, like a breeze from within. It wasn't cold, but rather a chilling feeling. This wasn't the gentle Guanyin Temple, nor the majestic Wu Temple. It was a place guarding the boundaries, a folk hub where humans and gods coexisted. He doesn't ask how much you suffer, but only whether you are determined to uphold your duty and follow the right path.
I bow sincerely before the prince's palace, not seeking glory or protection from disaster, but simply hoping—that when I need to say "no," I can; when I need to stand firm, I won't be shaken by the wind.
Outside the temple gates lies the clamor of the world;
Inside, lies the solemnity and silence that the gods have maintained for centuries.
This path is short, but I walk it with a steady hand.
